Use this quick scorecard after straightening, using and draining a hose. It focuses on the annoyances ordinary kink tests miss.

Score what actually happens

The very first broad loop flips or twists out of plane. The hose changes preferred coiling direction during storage. Completed loops are pulled or thrown off the hanger while I gather the rest. The hose repeatedly returns to tight packaging-sized coils. I must rotate the hose in my hands repeatedly to keep loops orderly. The empty hose will not lie reasonably flat after being straightened. One or two minor corrections are needed over the full length.

Indicative hand-coil score: 100/100 — Easy to hand-coil.

How to make comparisons fair

Use similar loop diameter, temperature and storage method. The score is not a laboratory standard; it is a structured way to compare hoses using the workflow that matters to you.

Do not hide the first-loop result

If a hose fails immediately, record it. Repeatedly twisting the hose until it behaves may get it onto the hanger, but it also hides the very usability problem you are trying to measure.
